Spring Ahead

I feel like I haven't been on here in forever. Only about a week though, but it feels like forever in internet land.

We made our visit to my sisters last weekend and had a blast. She has a son that is a year older than Billy The Kid and a daughter that is around a year younger. The boys did boy stuff while I spent my time doing my nieces hair, or picking out her clothes, or buying her a barbie, and some new clothes. Stuff that I have always wanted to do but haven't been able to. It just isn't the same to do a 5 year old boys hair!

I didn't do much shopping for me at Walmart, sad face. I got the kids some much needed clothes and 1 toy each. And there went my wad. It was totally worth it though! I did find myself some Jellies at another store, which more than made up for missing out on the clearance cleaning supplies. I haven't owned a pair of jellies since I was 10! Ahhh I feel like a kid again. A kid with really big feet.

On the way home it was snowy in the mountains we went over so we stopped at a big hill that people that had been sledding on, which wasnt much fun since we didn't have a sled and the rubbermaid lid wasn't working that well either. And we were "those" people, and I HATE being "those" people! But alas...across the street from us I spied a snow park, so we took Billy tubing. It was his first time and he had a blast! We got down to the bottom the first time and he screamed "That was awesome!!" Well worth the 12 dollars I paid for 10 rides down the hills. Which were very scream inducing, even in adults. There was a guy at the bottom of the hill that punched our passes each time we went back up and I swear I hit him with the darn tube every single time I went by. Each time I apologized, but after 10 times in 1 hour the sorries don't mean so much.

Going up the pulley to the top of the hill.

How he preferred to go down the hills after he got hit in the face with some snow that flew up.

Luckily we both had some boots with us!

Of course we needed some Starbucks to warm up with after we were done.

Since we got back home we have just been slumming around the house. We went to Costco and got a pack of frozen burger patties...We have had them almost every day! They are good and easy and the boys love them. Billy and I are going to dinner at my moms tonight since my husband is working. I have to work tomorrow morning but we get the afternoon together, can't wait! I hate the feeling of not seeing him for 5 days. Well I did shower today although after we went out for breakfast, but I did, so I have to go get ready all over again! Hope everyone is having a wonderful spring so far!

Is it shower day?

Anyone else ever wonder that? I have lately found myself thinking  "I can either vacuum or take a shower." Gross to some people I am sure, but normal to most moms out there. I am left wondering that today.. can my hair go one more day without being washed and still look good enough for work tomorrow since my boss gets on me (not literally, she isnt into dirt or me for that matter) if my hair is looking sub par. I feel like I have so much to do before I leave town for a couple days! I am not sure how to fit it all in, yet here I am watching Rachel Ray and writing to the very few people that are going to actually read this. I should be cooking and freezing food for my husband who might starve to death while I am gone since his cooking goes as far as macaroni and eggs. But let me tell you, eggs are his job in this house! I dont know what he does to them but the man can cook eggs! I should be cleaning the litter box or vacuuming my dogs hair off the carpet, making the bed I am sitting in, dusting, dishes, laundry, the list goes on and on of the things I should be doing but am not. Especially shower! I should be in the shower right now!

My trip to my sisters tomorrow was supposed to be a surprise, but because of a little thing called Facebook she found out and sent me a text that said "I know you're coming." Bummer! The jig is up. I am still excited to go and see her and her family though. Our big event during the trip? Walmart. I love me some Walmart, dont tell anyone though. I have a love for buying cleaning supplies, plastic storage containers, and toys there. I wonder what I will find this time? Maybe some Downy on clearance. What a rush! It does make me so happy to buy stuff on sale, let alone clearance. I come home all proud and justify my 10 bags by declaring to my husband that I had to buy it because it was a good deal. He is never so thrilled as I am, fine by me mister! I am happy enough for the both of us!

Ill leave you with some pictures of my dog, who I love to pieces! In fact, I love him enough to dress him up like the daughter I will never have.
This is him studying hard.

Paying bills.
Heading to the office.
Ready to face the weather.
Lastly, taking a bath.
Obviously he wasn't very thrilled with this one.
Just to clarify, I probably would not dress my daughter like this if I had one..probably.

Burning and Cleaning

Yesterday was our Sunday so we decided that we should tend to the little 20 feet of property we own behind our yard but can't put anything on because it is an access way for the power lines. We had some old shrubs and old pieces of wood, where these random pieces of 2x4 came from I have no idea, but they were there so they were included in the party. I took out one blackberry bush and decided that was enough work for me! But let me tell you it was enough work for me to put on my fancy boots! I really look for excuses to wear them, my husband hates them, my son thinks I am a cowboy when I wear them, but I love them! It reminds me of the days when I used to have horses and anything that brings back those memories makes me a happy camper!

Here are said boots that have my heart
And here is said fire, with said random wood. Did I mention my husband loves to pour diesel on the fire to get it going? Well here he is doing that

Today I decided to come home and clean up since I am going out of town with my mom and Billy The Kid to go visit my sister and her family who just moved a few hours away. I wanted to surprise my husband with a very clean, but very lonely house when he got home after we had left. And that is where it started.. sweeping, vacuuming, dishes, and then I went into the spare room in our house that my mother occupied for a couple years. I have had every intention of making that a giant walk in closet for me, but that hasn't happened. So I moved all the coats I was storing in that closet into the hall closet and moved all my shoes into the room. Then came the purses I hide in my sons closet.... What a mess! I realized that when I switch purses I dont take everything out of them, just the essentials and leave random things in there to be found quite a while later. Here is a little sample of the things I found in the purses, I threw away the garbage because I didnt think you wanted to see all of that.
I have no idea why I have 4 sunglass cases! But I do. Not sure where the roll of tape came from either. What you dont see is the checkbook that I swore up to that very moment that my husband lost months and months ago, all the while me telling him what a scatter brain he was. Oops! I am sure that he put it into one of these purses and then stored them away in the closet without my knowing! On the plus side, I think I got a couple dollars worth of change, though I had to pick it out of a crumbled cookie.

Here is my closet when I was finished. Did I mention I have a slight obsession with shoes? Very small though.

In case you do notice, I will just admit it now. Yes that is a shoe box with pictures of boobs on it. Once upon a time I put change and money in there for the boob job I have always wanted. But now the box is empty, I dont remember exactly what I spent it on, probably a pair of shoes, or a cheeseburger or two.

The Great Northwest

Today after I got off work we took our son, Billy The Kid on a drive in the woods and of course to shoot some guns. It was his first time shooting a real gun, he has only ever shot his BB Gun. Which he is good at shooting and very accurate. This is just one more thing I love about my husband, is that he has passed on his love for firearms and his very good accuracy to our son. They both have a real passion for it. I cannot wait until Billy The Kid is big enough to go hunting!

Being in the great Pacific Northwest that we are, it was sunny outside and started snowing. We had a great day and only a few tears were shed when we had to leave because I was freezing my patootie off!

The day in a life of a cop is never over, no matter where you are.

Doing "Man" Work

I woke up today, after practically not seeing my husband for over a week, and decided that I was going to mow the lawn for him. I thought it was only fair since I came home from work the other morning and he had done the dishes for me. After a long struggle with our son to pick up his toys before he could come outside with me, I first grabbed the wheel barrow and picked up all the presents our dog leaves behind for us. I get out the mower and have to ask my five year old if he knows how to work it since I have never touched one before. Luckily for me, he gave me a quick tutorial on how it actually works! I check the gas, I think, could have been the oil for all I know and it looks rather empty, but it starts. Afraid I am going to run out of gas I try pushing the heaving machine at a fast pace. This makes me about heave over and die after about 2 minutes. But I got it done! Even did the front yard! I was rather proud of myself and was more than willing to do this for my husband since he is on his 6th straight day of being out on the road, even going in bright and early this morning to get some overtime.

It is really the small things that we do for each other, like the dishes, or mowing the lawn, that put a smile on our faces when we have just missed each other at our house. Although I would much rather spend time with my husband than mow the lawn for him, I know he appreciates the smalls things like this and duty calls. While I am sitting at home with our son figuring out what game to play next, he is literally keeping our streets safe.

No one ever said that being married to a cop was easy, and it sure isnt! But we get through it and learn to cherish the time that we get to spend with each other.

Here is my grass, in all its glory:
